May Empties 2016

wen fig

Oof, finally getting these darn May Empties up!! I had a very small empties this month, so I quickly used a few samples to beef it up a bit. I’m moving in a few months, so I’m trying to use stuff up before then and not buy anything new. Also going to do a good clean out! Hopefully that means some more robust empties posts over the summer. Anyway, onto the items!

nars creamy concealerNARS Creamy Concealer

I picked up the NARS Creamy Concealer because I’d heard so many rave reviews about it. I loved how it swatched in the store, and loved the color range. For awhile, it was definitely a favorite. A little bit went a long way under the eyes, and it covered blemishes without being too heavy. There is still product left in the tube, but it’s drying out making it look cakier on my skin. Might repurchase, but want to test some others first!

Carmex Soothing Lip Balm

This Carmex tube was my night time lip balm for…years. Can’t believe how long it took to use it up! I always wear lip balm when I go to bed so I wake up with hydrated, flake free lips. Carmex is heavy so it’s great for at night. I really love the Jack Black balm these days, so I’ll probably just stick to that.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioner

I love trying samples of deep conditioning masks because a foil packet holds the perfect amount for one use. The ends of my hair dry out really fast, but I’m trying to grow out my hair so I don’t want to cut it! This mask from Briogeo made my hair feel very soft for a few days after using it, but I didn’t notice any long term effect.

Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Creme

I was just looking this up and discovered a full size is $100! The only thing I really noticed about this product was the smell. It smelled fancy and expensive, but also fake. I hate added fragrance in moisturizers. It’s irritating and drying! The lotion did make my skin feel soft and smooth, but I am NOT spending that much on a moisturizer!

Wen Cleansing Conditioner in Fig

I first used Wen a few years ago, and I liked how it was easy to use and made my hair curl well. I’d read on their website the Fig scent was good for curly hair, so I wanted to try it out. The scent of this is terribley strong and lingers throughout the day. The product itself was fine, but I could barely handle the smell. I much prefer the original mint scent!

  1. Have you tried Ren Pure? It’s very similar to Wen but a lot less expensive. You can find it at Target or sometimes at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx for less than $10 and the scent isn’t as strong.
