Current Make Up Routine: Winter 2016

current make up routine

My ‘everyday’ make up routine tends to change every few months. With the changing of the weather, new make up coming out, and wanting to actually use my make up collection, I love to update my ‘look’ every few months. I don’t have a lot of room to store make up on my vanity also, so a lot of it is in a different organizer in my bedroom. With the changing of the seasons, I’ll rotate a few pieces in and out, especially lips colors! I’m hoping to get some new make up organization soon so I can better use my collection.

BASE

Glo Minerals Face Primer

On most days, I slap a little primer on before foundation. I usually am wearing make up from about 7:40am until 7:00pm, so I need my make up to last. Right now I’m using this simple primer from Glo Minerals. It doesn’t feel heavy under foundation, but doesn’t just sink into the skin doing nothing. I apply it mostly on my t-zone.

Pur Cosmetics Hydra Fluid Serum Foundation

I recently received this new foundation from Pur Cosmetics, and it’s been my go to for most days. Sometimes I’ll just use mineral powder, but if I want more coverage I need a real foundation. The Hydra Fluid Serum Foundation is hydrating for my winter skin, and provides a medium amount of coverage that I can layer up on problem areas.

COLOR

Colour Pop Super Shock Blush in Birthday Suit

When placing my first Colour Pop order, I knew I wanted to by a more neutral toned blush, since I had so many pink ones in my collection. I figured the term birthday suit, and by looks of the swatch that this would be a good option. Luckily, it was exactly was I was looking for! The light, rosy tone goes with every make up look.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Natural

For a slightly more pink, and slightly more shimmery vibe, I’m reaching for the Physicians Formula blush again. The Happy Booster blush is supposed to mimic the shade of a natural flushed face, and with a little sparkle. It’s a very light pink shade, that I really love for basic make up days. It also work well to add on top of other blushes.

EYES

Colour Pop Super Shock Eye Shadow in Weenie

Also part of my Colour Pop order, was this beautiful copper shade eye shadow called ‘Weenie’. The texture of these eye shadows (creams) is so buttery, it’s amazing. The shade Weenie is VERY copper, but omg I love it! Copper is my favorite metallic right now. I especially love this color with a berry lip.

Stila Eye Shadow in Kitten

Stila Kitten is a cult favorite in the beauty world, if you haven’t tried it, you need to. I have had this compact for awhile, but it had ended up in the back of my stash. I have been using it a bunch lately, and fallen back in love. My favorite way to apply is to use a pink cream shadow as a base, and pat Kitten on top. It gives a super sparkley, rosey gold effect.

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

I mentioned recently about how I finally found the perfect mascara. While I’m sure I’ll try others, it is nice to know there is something out there that will always work for me. The Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara (in waterproof) gives my lashes all day curl. It’s exactly what I wanted.

Benefit Gimme Brow

For awhile I was only bothering to reach for the Benefit Gimme Brow if I was doing a full make up look. I hate the look of super filled in brows, and the Benefit Gimme Brow gives me just enough color to make my brows look done the way I want. I’m running out, and definitely need to repurchase, but also want to try some other brands.

Starlooks Eye Pencil in Obsidian

For me, most black eyeliners are the same. I like to smudge a little on my lash line to make my lashes look fuller. I somehow ended up with a bunch of black liners, but right now I’m mostly reaching for this super black one from Starlooks. It isn’t too soft that it smudges, or too hard that it pulls. It’s been working great for me.

LIPS

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

Ever since I really got into make up, Revlon Honey has been my savior. It goes with everything! After getting some new lip products, I some how totally forgot about Honey, and I am rectifying that now! I’ve been wearing it a bunch recently, and realized I should probably toss it soon because it’s getting old.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Daredevil

I got this lip gloss in a Birchbox a long time ago. It’s a sample size, and I’m almost done with it so I’ve been wearing it a lot to try and finish it up. I love the berry color, but I’m not a fan of how minty it is. I’d love to find the same shade in a different formula. It’s a bit sheer, and adds the perfect amount of berry to the lips.

Colour Pop Lippie Pencil in Frida

One of my most recent purchases, a new lip pencil! Frida is a super popular color from Colour Pop because it’s so wearable. It’s an everyday, my lips but better pink. The pencil is very smooth, and lasts quite a long time when used all over the lips.

  1. The Glo Minerals primer sounds ideal for the dry weather. I love Gimme Brow for everyday use – I’m too lazy to reach for brushes and this takes just the one step.

  2. Nice products that you use in your routine. They’re all perfect for a nice everyday look. You’ll be using them up in no time, as long as you stick to them.

  3. I love your picks! Those are my kind of shades too! In fact, I have most of the products you used. Thanks for reminding me that I have the PF hearts blush, and for sharing the pretty blush from ColourPop – Birthday Suit – I need to try ti! I’ve got Frida and I love the shade but there’s something in it that dries my lips and makes me sad.

  4. I need to find that Physician’s Formula Blush Booster! We have very similar tastes – I love everything in your makeup routine! Benefit’s Gimme Brow is my go-to brow product right now as well šŸ™‚
