At one point, I would have said ‘I don’t like nude lips’ but that was before I realized ‘nude’ didn’t mean concealer shades as lipstick. The variety of nude lip products out there is down right amazing. Before I knew it, my collection was turning more nude than any other color. I’ve picked out my most used to share with you. If there is anything I know about the beauty world today, it’s that people are loving nude lips!
I saw a Lisa Eldridge video a few months ago about nude lipsticks that was amazing. (Obviously, Lisa is awesome!) She talked about how not all nude lipsticks are the same, and you have to find the ones that work for you. Boy is she right! I have definitely seen nude lip colors that looked terrible on me but better on others. I prefer the pinkier nudes, and nothing too pigmented or matte.
I consider all of the lipsticks nude, but seeing them together, shows how pink they really are, and how different they really are! I almost don’t even consider them nude looking at them together! I’ll go into details on the shades with real lip swatches so you can see how they look on my skin tone.
Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Tea With the Queen
Of the products shown here today, this is the most nude. It doesn’t have any strong pink undertones, but isn’t super ‘concealer mouth’ like. (You know what I mean when I say, that, right?) I love the formula of these lip crayons from Butter London, which is why this color works for me. The slightly sheer, slightly glossy formula, lets my lips shine through just enough to look the way I want. I love with with a more colorful eye look to balance things out.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Fairest Nude
Especially see this picture, I think this is my favorite lipstick out of this bunch. The shade is just perfect! I think the Colour Riche line from L’Oreal is underrated. They have every color imaginable, in a cheap, wearable formula. I picked up Fairest Nude because it was a dupe for some MAC color. It’s a bit pink and a bit brown, so it really goes with everything. A must have for traveling, since I never know what look I’m going for.
NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee
While I used to be a huge gloss lover, I’m more into lipstick these days. I love the formula and smell of the NYX Butter Glosses though, so they are one of the few favorite lip glosses I have. A nude gloss is perfect for getting that not too nude look. The shade Creme Brulee lets my lip color show, but the gloss just dulls it down a bit to look more nudey. They glosses last well and aren’t too sticky, and smell a-freaking-mazing.
Bite Beauty Matte Cream Lip Crayon in Cafe
I finally tried out the Bite Matte Lip Creams by buying a little set they had for the holidays. It had four colors, one of which was Cafe. Compared to the others, I find it a tad orange, but the formula is too perfect, so I really don’t mind. This is the most matte, but it isn’t completely matte that it looks painted on. The formula is comfortable to wear, and the lip color wears quite a while and wears off evenly.
Lancome Color Design Lip in Pale Lip
I was surprised to see how pink this shade from Lancome looked next to the other shades. The Color Design formula is awesome, I need to try more. It wears so well throughout the day and doesn’t dry out my lips. The shade Pale Lip goes with everything. It’s not too nude, too pink, or too brown, it’s just the perfect shade for whatever look I am going for.
What’s your #1 nude you can’t live without?
