August Favorites 2015

august favorites

September ALREADY?! No! I don’t believe it. I actually really like September, but I’m not sure I’m ready! I’ve got A LOT coming up this month, so it was nice to look back on August and see what I was loving. Lot’s of new goodies which is always fun. It was definitely a light make up month because of the heat, but I’m looking forward to bringing out fall make up. This months favorites feature a lot of items I think will be favorites for awhile!

giovanni, giovanni avocado shampoo

Giovanni D:tox Purifying Facial Mask

One day I’m spotty, then I’m not. One day it’s dry…then it’s oily. By skin, especially in the summer can change a lot week to week. For when it’s acting up, the Giovanni Purifying Facial Mask was a life savor. The activated charcoal and volcanic ash pulled out toxins to clear up my skin, and antioxidants kept it fresh and glowy. Very easy to wash off for a clay mask, which is always a plus!

Giovanni Avocado & Olive Oil Ultra Moist Shampoo

In July I got a haircut for the first time in awhile, and in August I started using a new shampoo and conditioner. I’ve been having A LOT of good hair days since. (Which is crazy because there have been so many heatwaves). While I love the Giovanni Ultra Moist Conditioner as well, the real stand out for me is the shampoo. It’s so hydrating and silky, but lathers well and really cleans my hair. My hair doesn’t feel stripped AT ALL after use, which is usually what makes my hair frizzy. Using a moisturizing shampoo is taming the frizz in my hair and keeping is silky smooth.

julep penny, butter london statement piece

Julep Nail Polish in Penny

I decided to buy the August Julep Maven box this month because the colors looked great. While I was disappointed in one of the shades, I was highly impressed with Penny. It’s a coppery-bronzey, micro shimmer, that I just couldn’t stop staring at it. I’m excited to use it again soon because I think it’ll be great for the fall.

Butter London Nail Polish in Statement Piece

Late in the month I received oh so many nail polishes from Butter London (enter the giveaway!) from their new fall collection. Some of the colors are going to be great for the cooler months, but Statement Piece is a great year round color. It’s a bright, poppy red that is fun and timeless. It’s going to be one I wear again and again.

julep skip the brush, loreal magic nude

Julep Skip the Brush Blush Stick in Peony Pink

Also from my August Maven box was this adorable stick blush. The shade I got was Peony Pink. So the point is that you don’t need a brush to apply it, but I actually prefer to use my Real Techniques stippling brush. The shade is a very wearable pink with just a hint of shimmer to add glow. I’ve been using this all month, it’s perfect for warm weather.

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation

I bought this foundation…last summer? The year before? Omg I can’t remember. I’m running near the end of it so I tried to get a lot of use this month. It’s definitely too dark for my winter skin, but this summer I’ve been very tan and it’s perfect. A little drop goes a long way. As you rub it in, it turns powdery feeling, and looks very skin like. It’s so different, but I love the effect.

  1. I love the detox mask for my dry/acne skin!! The grit was fine without damaging my skin and took alot of dirt out!!

  2. I’ve got the Julep blush stick in Guava and I really like it. I was actually surprised at the shimmer/glitter in it. I’d love to see them make a more matte version.

  3. Yes! I love the Loreal foundation. I didn’t even know Govanni made skincare items, I want to try some of their haircare stuff. Nice faves
