Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil

Last year I started using the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, which was the first Cleansing Oil I had ever used. After finishing it up I decided I wanted to try a few other options before repurchasing. Using some Jules Point on Julep I picked up the Bare Face Cleansing Oil, which was also recommended by a few bloggers. I’ve been using it now for a few weeks!

I use the Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil every night to take my make up off. I pump a bit into my hands and rub all over my face to break up the make up. I may go back in with a second pump to remove stubborn mascara.

When the make up seems to be broken up, I wash it off with water. Water turns the oil into a lather. I rinse and rinse till it all seems gone, and continue with my skincare.julep bare face cleansing oil

The pump makes it easy to get product out, and the sleek bottle looks nice on my bathroom counter. (Because I have NO room in my medicine cabinet anymore!!) I wish the pump dispensed more in one pump, but that’s the smallest problem.

The DHC cleanser smelled strongly like olive oil, which I actually quite liked. (Olive oil is delish.) I find this oil to not have much scent, maybe slightly fruity. I usually prefer unscented products since fragrance can be harmful.

So as I said, I use this every night to remove make up. It’s super quick, so even if I just want to get my make up off fast before making dinner I can use this. After cleansing, my skin doesn’t feel stripped at all and in fact feels quite hydrated.

To test it, after cleansing I went back in with a cotton pad and micellar water to see how well it removed make up. Well, the pad came back almost completely clean! The only make up remnant was probably from my own doing.

I don’t think it gets my mascara off as well as the DHC oil, but I find this doesn’t irritate my eyes as much. If I have to do some extra rubbing to get the mascara off the oil kind of gets in my eyes, but it doesn’t sting at all.

I’m having a hard time deciding which one I would repurchase; the DHC or the Julep. They are very similar. The DHC oil lasted me forever, and I can tell this will last me a long time too. I think it would depend on which site was having a better sale!

  1. I received a cleansing oil at the beginning of the summer and I liked it. But for the summer, I have wanted to use gel cleanser coz my face feels so dirty and greasy. I know oil works as well but I kind of want that almost squeaky clean feeling in the summer. however, I will go back to the oil this winter. The Julep and the DHC both have very loyal followings but I haven’t tried either one yet.

  2. Cleansing oils are my favorite makeup removers. They’re gentle, yet very effective. I really like Dior’s and Clinique’s, which is actually a balm, but works the same way. They’re great at removing eye makeup, even waterproof. I think massaging your eyes with an oil is way better than rubbing them with a cotton pad!

  3. In the beginning I did not like the cleansing oils and balms. However, I have fallen in love with them. They are great for removing make-up. The Julep oil does have a sleek look to it. I may try it out simply due to my love of packing and cleansing oils. Great post.
