Holy hot. I think it was above 90 for most of July. Or at least it felt that way. After sweating through my shirt waiting for the bus everyday, I’m looking forward to the weather cooling down as we get closer to fall. I kept the make up light most of the month, but new skincare made a bigger appearance. Let’s see what my favorites were!
Alba Botanic Hawaiian Sunscreen SPF 45
I don’t see too much sun during the day, (I’m usually wearing pants a long sleeved shirt at work) but on the weekend I make sure to lather my exposed skin in SPF. Me and the boyfriend spent two weekends at his parent’s pool, so I’ve got a good tan going. The Alba Botanica Sunscreen was my SPF of choice. I’d been wanting to try it forever! It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin, and prevented sunburns all day long. SPF 45 is the perfect amount for me, since I don’t tend to burn too easily. It has a light, slightly sweet scent I really like. It makes my skin very shiny, and feels a little gross when you go in the pool after, but I guess all sunscreen does that.
Avalon Organics Lavender Luminosity Exfoliating Enzyme Scrub (Review)
I think I found the perfect scrub, and I’m oh so happy. I love lavender and I love exfoliating, so it really is a match made in heaven. I love how the scrub makes my skin feel clean and clear out the pores, but isn’t too rough or irritating. The oils in the product make my skin feel hydrated. Packed with good ingredients, I think this will be a favorite for a long time!
Andalou Naturals Tumeric + C Enlighten Serum (Review)
Serums can really be the secret to getting perfect skin. There are so many out there, you could find the right one for all of your skin problems. For the summer, I’ve been using the brightening Enlighten Serum from Andalou Naturals, because who doesn’t want glowy, bright skin in the summer? The light weight formula sinks in quickly. My skin has been looking very healthy, and I haven’t needed as much make up this month!
Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Disco Biscuit (Review)
I received a ton of Butter London lip crayons, and I’ve been playing around with the colors ever since. A few have stood out to me, one being Disco Biscuit. It’s a fun, bubble gum pink shade I didn’t actually think I’d like! It’s light enough that it doesn’t look crazy, but is still a fun shade to wear in the summer.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Just Beige (Review)
I had to start waking up earlier this month, which means my 7:30am brain is incapable of doing much to my face. I’ve been reaching more for the ‘slap it on’ make up, instead of the ‘layer it, buff it out, blend it’ make up. The Maybelline Color Tattoos are great for that, but I’ve actually been reaching for the nude, beige shade I have. It just gives the lid a perfected look. I may go in with a little shadow, but usually it’s just black liner and mascara. I miss using all my shadows, but this saves so much time.
My favorite nail polish I used this month was Anne by Julep. It is an “ultra-saturated violet crème”. I love purple nails, and this shade is pretty different than all my colors. I love how it really packs a punch color wise. I love bright, saturated nails in the summer time! Late in the month I also used China Glaze Plastic Flamingo which is a bright neon pink, it’s a close second!
July empties post coming next week! Have a great weekend 🙂
