We all deal with it, acne. I would say I’ve been pretty lucky in my young years with acne problems, but I’m not completely in the clear! I tend to get a lot of red bumps on my cheeks these days (probably diet and sleep are to blame). I used to get a lot of hormonal acne on my chin but that seems to have subsided a lot. Since I don’t have a lot of acne, I don’t have a huge amount of products aimed at problem skin, but I do have a few things that are my go to when I need some help.
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser
I don’t like to use anything too harsh to wash my face because my skin does tend to be dry. The First Aid Beauty cleanser is gentle, but really gets my skin clean. After cleansing, I know all gunk has been removed and I can go on to treating the skin.
Andalou Naturals Pore Minimzer Toner
This stuff just makes the skin feel so clean. The willow bark deep cleans the pores to make them appear smaller and make sure the skin is clean. I usually use this just on the problem areas to clarify the area, and not dry out the rest of my skin.
Andalou Naturals Creamy Clay Mask
Some clay masks can be too drying for my skin, but this one from Andalou is creamy and more moisturizing while still treating the problem. I dab the mask on larger spots or just use all over if I’ve got a lot of stuff going on. It tingles a little, but the next morning my skin always looks better.
To Really Fix It
Tea Tree Therapy Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree oil has been my best discovery for acne. But be careful! This stuff is intense. You can’t really use it straight on the skin (which I learned the hard way). Instead, you must mix it with a carrier oil. You can use practically anything, but I’m using the Roiel Cosmetics Marula Oil. For awhile I was using the Jeffrey James The Glow Oil. A few drops of each oil go into the palm of my hand and are rubbed together. I apply a thin layer to the face and let sink in. By the next morning redness has been reduced and my skin is looking great! If the tea tree is too intense for your skin, just any oil in general can be super helpful.
There are so many other acne fighting products I want to get my hands on, so hopefully I can do a follow up post with more products soon!
