Project Pan Spring 2015

project pan

So even though I’m a beauty blogger, I try really hard to have a manageable, realistic collection of skincare and make up. I live in a tiny apartment, and the little storage space I have has to be shared with my boyfriend. The last few months I’ve been a little more strategic in my make up usage so that I can get stuff used up and move onto something newer and better. For the spring (and I guess summer too) these are the items I’m trying to use up.

loreal true match foundation

Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Eye Concealer

I’d say I’m about half way through this, and it’s going nowhere fast. I use a dab of this under my eyes when I don’t need much coverage. I’m not absolutely in love with it so I want to use it up and find something that doesn’t crease as much. I hate wasting things, so I want to make a bigger dent before I get rid of it.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Natural Buff N3

The L’Oreal True Match foundation has been a go to of mine since I first started wearing make up. I’ve had this bottle around for awhile and there isn’t much left. I’m hoping to finish it up just in time to move onto a darker foundation to match my summer tan.

the balm apple pie

the Balm Cosmetics blush in Pie (Sample)

I’m super in love with this color of cream blush, and it’s making me really want the entire How ‘Bout Them Apples palette from the Balm. I’ve been using this sample a lot and can see that I’m getting toward the end. I love how it applies and lasts throughout the day. I thought the palette seemed silly at first, but now I think I must have it…

Starlet Eyeliner in Black

I haven’t bought a black eyeliner in forever because I got so many in Birchbox and Ipsy boxes. I’ve been using this one from a random Australian brand forever. It’s…alright. It applies easily, but tends to look messy after a few hours. I have another black liner from and Ipsy bag that is much black and long wearing, but I want to use up at least an inch more of these one before getting rid of it.

bare minerals moxie lip gloss

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Classic Wine

When I first rediscovered my love for make up a few years ago, I went a little lipstick crazy. The one I found myself reaching for the most in my new collection with L’Oreal’s Classic Wine. The shade is an easy, wearable red with a hint of gold shimmer. I love that its color, but is manageable and goes with a lot. As you can see, I’ve got just a little nub left. I finished a lipstick last month, hopefully I can finish this one soon!

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Dare Devil

I got this little sample of this lip gloss twice in a box. I gave the first one to my sister because I didn’t like the smell too much. But then I just got another one so I started using it. I actually ended up being okay with the smell, but I’m still not a huge fan. The color though, oh the color. I love how it makes my lips look. It’s also very thick and sticky which makes it last awhile. Since taking this picture I’ve used up a little more, and think it’ll be done pretty soon.

using up make up

So look out for some of these items in (hopefully) upcoming empties posts! I really want to use stuff up and make room or better and more natural items, but damn it’s hard!

  1. I didn’t finish a lipstick for already very long time. One I almost finished felt and broke:D Other I use a lot but I can’t finish.. takes eternity!

  2. I really like the idea behind this post! Makes me want to create my own “I should use those up” list 🙂 Btw feel tagged for my latest spring tag if you like 🙂

  3. I adore theBalm’s How ‘Bout Them Apples blush palette. I bought it a while ago on Hautelook, and in fact, it was on the Hautelook site just last week for $16. Keep your eyes open for it! I also started out with that little sample and I fell in love

    1. I’ve gotten a few things from the Balm on Hautelook, that’s definitely where I would buy it. Maybe next time, since I def don’t need it right now!

  4. I am in the same boat as you- so many products and not enough space! I keep my empties until the end of each other and then go through them and think about what I like/didn’t like- seeing them all together inspires me to use up more!

  5. You got this! I’m a few months in to my Project Pan and feel a bit stalled out… its always good to read someone’s post to be inspired a bit! Good luck!

  6. You need the whole cheek/lip palette from The Balm! It’s amazing!! I’ve been using it so much lately. I’ve also been trying to stick to specific products as much as possible lately to try to get through some of them. It’s so hard!

  7. I feel ya girl! Finishing makeup takes forever. I usually end up having to through it out before I can make a dent because it is just too old.

  8. I got that same Ipsy bag! I wasn’t a fan of the Starlet eyeliner, but I like the Marvelous Moxie lip gloss. I really should do something like this, because although I have a modest makeup collection for a beauty blogger, it would be nice to actually use something up and feel like I’m not wasting anything.

    1. I have a pretty small collection, but I want to be able to look at my stuff and say “I actually use all of this!” Same with clothes, I want to downsize!
