February Favorites 2015

biotin pills

The first favorites I ever did was in February of 2013. It wasn’t until last year I started to do them more regularly. This month, I rediscovered a few old favorites, which is always fun because it means I didn’t spend money and instead found a love for things I already owned! I tend to use a lot of the same products day to day, so when it comes to make up, a favorite really means I used it a lot during the month. It’d be nice if I could afford to have brand new products in every months favorite, but in reality that just isn’t how most peoples lives work!

burts bees body wash

Burt’s Bees Fabulously Fresh Body Wash

After using The Body Shop shower gels for like a whole year,  I decided it was time to try something new. Also, I never have time to go to The Body Shop, and I didn’t want to place an order online. Alas, I found myself at Wal-Mart and in dire need of body wash. I LOVE pepperminty smells, especially during a morning shower. I’ve used other scents of Burt’s Bees body washes, so I thought I’d give the Fabulously Fresh scent a try! It’s very invigorating but not too overpowering. It’s a great change from the sweet scents I’ve been using.

Glo Minerals Mineral Foundation

In the past year or so I’ve become a huge fan of mineral foundation. The shade I have of the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder is too dark for my winter skin. Luckily, the shade I picked out from Glo Minerals is the perfect match! It’s easy to apply and blends into my skin beautifully. You can’t tell there is make up there at all! I find the pressed compact easier to use than a loose version as well. Less mess! (But still some mess).

NYX Rogue Cream Blush in Natural

If I remember correctly, way back when, I received this cream blush from Ipsy. I was surprised to see a full size item, and especially one in a color I actually like! The shade Natural is a mid toned pink that perfectly matches the color of naturally flushed cheeks. The NYX cream blushes are very creamy and easy to blend. A little goes a long way too, just one tap with a stippling brush and I’ve got perfectly pink cheeks. So happy I rediscovered this, need to try more cream blushes!

In November I cut about 6 inches off my hair. But I didn’t want to. I asked for like 3 inches cut off and a few layers. The hair cut was cute and the stylist was lovely, but I really wasn’t ready for the much of a change. I decided I really missed having long hair and needed to get it growing. I picked up some Biotin pills because I know they are supposed to help strengthen hair. So far, my hair has been growing out at a normal rate, but the hope is that the ends stay healthy and strong so that I don’t have to cut it anytime soon.

NYX Slide on Pencil in Glitzy Gold

I always forget about this metallic gold eye liner I have, then I use it, and can’t stop using it for days. The color of this pencil is a true metallic cold. It’s shiny, but not sparkly, and not too wet looking. I love to line my lash line with this when I’m doing a nude eye look. Light reflects off the gold and makes my eyes look so awake and pretty (if I do say so myself). The pencil was very very creamy when I first got it (like the Urban Decay pencils) but has dried out a bit. Still works well though. For a few bucks I can’t complain!

julep maddy

Julep Nail Polish in Maddy

It’s been winter for 5 years. (Okay just like 3 months, but it’s been COLD). When it isn’t snowy, it’s overcast. And even if it’s actually sunny, it’s windy and freezing. I was getting tired of it. I decided to brighten my mood I’d paint my nails a bright, fun pink. Thanks Julep Maddy! You were perfect. Maddy is raspberry pink shade with a little bit of shimmer. It barely chipped after a week of wear, and lightened my mood every time I looked at it.

Maybelline Color Elixir in Captivating Carnation

I’ve probably put this in my favorites like 5 times, but I just keep rediscovering it! This month I’ve been trying to finish two lipsticks I have (one a light red shade, the other a berry shade). Sometimes I just needed something different so go with my outfit and Maybelline Captivating Carnation was perfect! The rosey pink shade goes with everything. The glossy, gel like formula makes lips look cute and pouty. It’s also really easy to apply. The Color Elixirs are amazing, I need more.

  1. I’ve been hearing good things about Glo Minerals lately and especially the foundation. I’m very curious. Although I have a ton of blush right now, thanks for reminding me that NYX has cream blush. I prefer cream everything. And on the biotin, you can take several pills. I takes 5000mcg/day for my nails & hair.

  2. Most of the products in my monthly favorites are products I’ve rediscovered in my collection and started using more frequently. We’re only human! I really like the NYX cream blush formulas. I think I’d like to get another shade or two. That Natural shade looks like it’d be perfect for me!
