One if my biggest discoveries of the last year was using oils on my face. The idea had never occurred to me before, and when I first heard about it I thought it seemed crazy. But boy was I wrong. I’ve since experimented with a few different oils here and there, and I’m so excited to have discovered this gem of the beauty world. Natural oils are packed with all that great stuff we want to put on our faces and can cure an assortment of skin problems.
First off, I never use oils on my face in the mornings. I find the oil takes a bit of time to sink in, and can mess up make up application. I don’t really use any type of skin treatment other than lotion in the mornings because I find it just feels heavy on my skin throughout the day.
The first oil I started to use was from Jeffrey James. The Glow is a blend of oils including jojoba oil, olive oil, sea buckthorn oil and more! It has a lovely scent that I’ve grown to love. This is my favorite everyday (well, night) oil. After cleansing my face, I apply a few drops to my skin are massage into my skin for as long as I can bother. I like to do this about an hour before bed so it has time to sink in. In the morning my skin looks glowy and refreshed, and definitely hydrated.
A few months ago I started using the Marula Oil from Roiel Cosmetics. This oil is packed with anti-oxidents that the skin loves. I find it doesn’t sink into my skin as quickly as the Jeffrey James option, but it still gives great benefits. When my skin is looking blotchy or spotty, a night of Marula Oil cures all my problems.
I also recently picked up a bottle of Rose Hip Seed Oil. I’m not sure why, but using this all over my face causes my skin to react. It gets a little spotty….This shows that not every oil will do the same thing for the skin or for every person. It’s a matter of finding out what works for you. The Rose Hip Oil instead gets used in specific areas of the face that are acting up, more as a spot treatment. I find scars have faded more quickly after using this!
I can’t wait to try a few more oils out on my skin, especially during these cold winter months. They are a great option to add to your skin care routine and can be found at a number of prices. What’s your favorite oil to use on your face?
