Sometimes you go to CVS to pick up a prescription, and then you walk out with a random product you know nothing about. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you don’t. Thankfully this time, I got lucky. I’m not even 100% what to call this mask, because it’s got a super long name. I think the full name is ‘Alba Botanica Good & Clean Pore Purifying Mini Peel’. But that’s too long, so I think just ‘mini peel’ is good enough. Alba is a more natural brand, most of the products are free of parabens, phthalates, and fragrance. Their products are available in a lot of drug stores and such these days so they are easy to find!
For a few months now I’ve been trying to deal with my pores. My chin and nose are always clogged, and the pores on my cheeks are very visible. I don’t think there is a ton I can do about size, but I want to make sure they are as cleaned out as possible to keep my skin looking its best.
I thought this Alba mask seemed interesting since it claims to be pore purifying and contains fruit enzymes which I can think work really well for my skin.
The product is a very thin consistency. I expected it to be more of a gel texture that would dry and peel off. Instead, its very thin and has to be washed off. Not sure why it’s called a peel since you don’t peel it…but I still think it works.
It has a very strong scent, that almost smells like gin to me. I actually really like the smell but I could see some people thinking it is too strong.
I keep the mask on for about 5 minutes. It TINGLES!! I feel the tingles most where I have more sensitive skin which is my cheeks. After 5 minutes I just wash it off with a wash cloth.
I think this mask really helps to get rid of any dead skin on my face revealing a new fresh layer. I use it 2 or 3 times a week, and I think it’s working! My pores on my nose are rarely clogged now. I find on my chin it works better if I alternate mask one day, physical exfolient the next.
Have you tried an Alba products? Any recommendations for large pores?
