July 11th, how is it that the year is half over? I think I’m still recovering from how horrible winter was, I barely feel ready for it to be summer. It’s now that time of year where I drag out the brighter pinks, the peaches, the corals….and put away the deep reds, the mauves, the purples, until October comes. There are a few make up items that will not find their way of my vanity this summer…let’s take a look!
L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation- Honestly, part of the reason this is a summer pick is because of the shade. I’m currently much tanner than I would be in the winter, so I need a tan specific foundation. I picked this L’Oreal foundation up last summer at the peak of my tan so it is quite dark. I like the formula of this even though it is a bit messy. It gives good coverage but feels like on the skin, and gives an airbrushed appearance. (Full review here.)
Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer- Of course in the summer everyone needs a bit of primer. Primer helps keep the oils at bay, and keeps your make up looking fresh all day long. I love this Tarte primer because it fills in the pores on my chin, nose, and cheeks. It doesn’t feel to heavy and keeps my make up set! (Full review here.)
the Balm Cream Blush in Pie- So you can actually only get this blush in a palette, I got this little sample from Birchbox. Cream blushes are great for the summer because they give a dewey look the skin, and I find they last longer. I love the shade of this sample, it gives such a cute summery look to the skin.
the Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer- Sometimes I really hate this bronzer, but the past few weeks things have been going ok. Bahama Mama is very dark, so if you are on the paler side, just keep on walking. The product is very powder which can get a little messy sometimes, so I tend to use a smaller brush. I took this bronzer out for the summer since I’m darker, and my The Body Shop Honey Bronzer is way too light.
Milani Luminoso Blush- I think everyone on YouTube has mentioned Milani Luminoso. It’s a great drugstore blush, and a great summer option. The peachy color looks great with a tan, and a little shimmer gives the skin a fresh glowy look. (Full review here.)
Smashbox 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Topaz- Cream shadows are great for the summer because they last all day through sweat and oil. The options from Smashbox are probably the creamiest ones I’ve ever tried. This color Topaz is a soft golden beige shade. I like to blend this out over the lid with a little liner for easy make up days.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink- The ultimate cream shadow, the Maybelline Color Tattoo. I’ve got a number of these, but the shade Inked in Pink is awesome for summer. It’s a mid toned pink shade that can be worn super sheer or super bold. I think pink looks awesome with a tan! (Full review here).
NYX Slide On Eye Pencil in Glitzy Gold- I’m not one for colored liner, I think it’s just too complicated…but gold…gold is another story. One day I was in Ulta and decided I wanted a gold liner. I proceeded to swatch every single one in the store and settled on this NYX one. It feels just like the Urban Decay 24/7 liners. The gold shade is super metallic and looks so cool on the lash line or water line.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart- A bright pink lip is exactly what summer was created for. Bright pink can turn any outfit from boring to bold in just a second. I love the Revlon balm stains SO MUCH and each color is just too fabulous. Sweetheart pretty darn bright, but can easily be sheered out for a simpler look. (Full review here.)
Covergirl Lip Perfection in Fairytale- Another fun option for summer lips is a bright coraly pinky peachy shade. Ok I’m honestly not sure how to explain this color from Covergirl. I think this shade is very flattering especially with a summery tan. The formula isn’t the best, but I find it does last quite a long time on the lip.
