Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer

Now that it’s summer, it’s hard to go a day without using a primer. We’ve been hitting over 90 degrees almost everyday this month, and I don’t see it stopping any time soon. Over 90 means make up is going to sweat off, and that look doesn’t look pretty on anyone. In order to combat sweaty make up, and smooth out the appearance of my skin, I purchased the Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer. Tarte is one of the more ‘natural’ high end brands, and I was excited to try something new from the brand in my effort toward a more natural life.

The Tarte Clean Slate Poreless primer is a 12-hr perfecting primer. The silicone-y feel fills in pores to create a smoother appearance, and helps make up go on better.

I usually apply the product only in the areas I really need it, which are my chin, cheeks, nose and a little on the middle of my forehead where my sunglasses hit. This helps with the large pores I have in those areas, and keeps the make up from budging.

I can definitely see a difference from days I use the primer and days I don’t. At the end of the day my make up looks like I just applied it. When I don’t use the primer, it starts to fade and wear off in some areas.

At first, I was little afraid of the silicone aspect of this product because I was afraid it would clog my pores. The silicone helps to fill the pores which is why it’s called ‘poreless’. I don’t think this product would be right for everyone, but for those with large pores or oily skin it’d be a good option.

If you don’t have large pores, the product might feel too heavy on the skin and would be more likely to clog pores.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with this primer because it does what it’s supposed to do. I also love the packaging!

What primer do you use? I’m hoping to try a Korres one next!

  1. I alternately use the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, the NARS UVA/UVB primer (it has sunscreeeen), the BECCA Resurfacing Primer, and the Rouge Bunny Rouge Prelude in the Clouds one. I LOVE primers, but then again I live in a tropical country so I need all the help I can get not to sweat off my makeup!
