Summer Skincare Essentials

summer skincare essentials It’s. So. Hot. Out. I can’t believe how hot this summer has been already and July, JUST started!! The season definitely snuck up on me, as I’m sure it did most of you. I think it’s time I share with you my skincare essentials for summer, before it’s too late!! (Because you all will have melted away!) I use these products every week to keep my skin healthy and protected in this crazy weather. Make up and nail polish essentials will be coming soon! nip and fab mango smoothie Keep those legs pretty! No one wants dry, ashy skin when you’re wearing skirts and shorts! A thick, hydrating moisturizer like a body butter will keep those legs of your legs looking beautiful all summer long. I prefer to apply a thick moisturizer like this at night. That way it can sink in while I sleep. Also, I’m not sure what would happen if I went out in 95 degree weather with a body butter on. Nip + Fab Mango Smoothie, $11.99 lumene bright now Glowy skin, WITH PROTECTION! In the summer, we never really want to wear makeup, right? It melts off your skin, feels heavy and gross…I definitely prefer to go with less make up in the summer, but that means my skin has to look good. I love to use brightening creams with Vitamin C to keep my skin looking fresh and glowy. It is important also to use a day cream with SPF. The more protection the better, right? I use a cream with SPF and a BB cream with SPF to keep my skin protected! Lumene Bright Now Day Cream, $19.99 sun labs tanner Self-tan without the sun! Now I must say, I love being tan. I always have. Naturally, I’m not very pale, but not very dark, so I like to give my skin that extra little boost it needs to look like I’ve spent the week in Aruba. (But really I’ve spent 15 mins my bathroom). I probably only find myself tanning in the sun 2 or 3 times a summer. I love the feeling of laying by the pool, but I don’t want to hurt my skin, to I prefer the at home version. Just rub a little self tanner over your whole body once a week or so, and no one will know the difference! Sun Labs Tan Overnight Lotion, $23.00, neutrogena spf Protect that body. Now I know I don’t need to tell you to use SPF. Lately, I’ve been trying to do a much better job about sun protection, but sometimes it can get hard. If the weather permits, I try to cover as much of my body as possible. But there is a high of 95 today, SO THAT AIN’T HAPPENING. Instead, I have to opt for the liquid stuff. I apply sunscreen to my legs, arms and neck area (face gets separate treatment) before heading out the door. It’s important to reapply if you’re staying out for awhile. I need to get better at that… Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 30, $10.99, jason aloeMaintaining. Now that you’ve got your tan, you want to keep it. I find using an aloe gel after being in the sun or apply self tanner helps to maintain my tan and keep my skin healthy. Everyone has heard of using aloe on a sunburn, but I use it even if I’m not burnt. If I get a natural tan, I apply aloe every night and I swear it stays longer! Also, using an aloe that is actually aloe will help those burns so much better than the fake stuff. I use a 98% aloe product, and it WILL cure a burn over night. 1. I do like your practical tips . What matters most with sunscreen?
    1) reapplication (every 2 hrs)
    2) quality SPF zinc oxide or titanium oxide at least 9 %
3)passive sun adds up- 5 1/2 hr trips to the bank post office library a week without sunblock adds up 10 hrs a month or one long day at the beach
    4) a hat – nothing beats a full physical block – buy a few cute ones with brims -keep in car.
    Always remember –
If you feel like you are burning you are get out of sun!

  2. Great post. I love the sound of that body butter. I’ll have to grab some. I, too, apply at night for maximum absorption. I recently just bought that Neutrogena one as well as one for the face by them. No breakouts. Yay! 🙂
P.S. Just wanted to let you know of a small typo (no biggie!). You have “Maintaing” instead of “Maintaining”.
Thank you for this article. Going to read a few more!
