Happy Monday, and happy June!! Wow, really can’t believe it’s June already. The weather has finally been BEAUTIFUL the past week or so (for awhile it was raining almost everyday). It’s starting to feel like summer, which means I’m breaking out the bright nail polishes, toning down the foundation, and applying SPF like it’s my job. After last Winter, I am so unbelievably excited for summer. I’ve be in classes, and maybe working, but at least it will be warm, and I can show off my (fake) tan and worry less about make up. (Don’t worry, I’ll still be posting).
This week I decided to recreate an old favorite manicure of mine, with a bright pink summery twist. I LOVE making flower nail art because it is actually super easy but looks oh so hard. I couldn’t pick just one pink so I opted for a few different shades to add some dimension to the look.
Flowers and polka dots are super easy as long as you have a dotting tool, and the will impress your friends and family. I love thinking of new color combinations! Also, this way I feel like I’m actually using my nail polish.
As my base colors, I chose 2 neutraly back drops. First was Julep Kelly which is a super light peach cream. I love that this shade is neutral, but not nude, so it doesn’t give you ‘dead hand’. Then for a little accent sparkle, I chose Ginger + Liz Swagger. This is probably my favorite all time nail polish. The shade is a super shimmery, metallic rose gold. Both Ginger + Liz and Julep are ‘5 free’ companies, which means they are free of the really bad chemicals found in most nail polish. Both companies have every shade you would ever need, so chemical free polish for life!
For my pink flowers, I went with 5 shades, one for each nail. I probably could have 10 different colors, but I thought that’d be overkill.
