Maybelline Color Whispers

When did these come out…last summer? I never can remember these things.

Today, I’m focusing on the Maybelline Color Whispers. The last thing I thought I needed was another buttery, light coverage lip product, but then I tried this one. And then I had three. And now I can’t stop looking at them at the drugstore. Talk about a good color range, I seriously love all of the Color Whisper colors, but alas, I am running out of lip product storage, so we will have to stop at three. For now.

From Maybelline: “Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.No heavy waxes or oils.Β Soft, sexy gel-color.”

Compared to the Revlon Lip butters, the Maybelline Color Whispers are much more lightweight, and give a softer look on the lip. They are buildable, but not much. 2 or 3 layers will give just enough color for a beautiful, everyday, pop of color.

My favorite think about the Color Whispers is the formula. They feel so, so great on the lips. Almost like half way between a gloss and lipstick. The formula isn’t heavy at all, and makes your lips feel very smooth. They aren’t the most hydrating, so I usually apply a little lip balm before I put it on in the morning.

The formula is not long lasting my any means, but it works really well to reapply, especially without a mirror. It is a great handbag product because you can apply on the go.

Sometimes I find the color can get a little trapped in the grooves of my lips, so don’t go overboard with the layers. One of two swipes is really all you need to get a great look.

Packaging is your typical lip product packaging. The covers match the color pretty well so you can figure out which one is which easily.

I have the colors ‘Petal Rebel’ which is a muted bright pink. In the tube it looks a tad shocking, but on the lips it is sheered out with just enough Barbie pink. ‘Pin Up Peach’ is aΒ a pinky peach with a bit of shimmer and just a tad of a brown undertone. It is very sheer, but gives the lips a perfect peachy tint. Last, is ‘Lust for Blush’. This is a great everyday nude, sort of my lips but better shade. I wish it was just a tad less brown, but it looks really great with a smokey eye.

Do you have any Maybelline Color Whispers? What is your favorite shade?

  1. I haven’t tried any of these – I never noticed them until now! They look and sound very nice, but I have enough of the Revlon Lip Butters that I need to stop making additional purchases. Thank you for the excellent introduction!

  2. I don’t own any of these for just one reason – every time I go to the store, I forget if I wanted the Revlon Lip Butter or the Maybelline Color Whisper. Perhaps I should just buy one of each and decide which one I like better! πŸ™‚

    1. Haha, you should definitely have at least one of each. I have a bunch if Revlon lip butters as well, and I think they are pretty different. Both are so worth it though!

  3. I’m totally with you on how fab the Color Whispers are! Definitely my favorite drugstore lip butter-esque formula. I also own Pin Up Peach and Lust for Blush which I get tons of wear out of! Great post πŸ™‚ xo

  4. I have one of these and its my go to for a quick wash of color! I have the shade pink possibilities and I love it! On my fair skin its more of a pinky coral. I agree they are so smooth and so easy to wear – I’m always checking out the shades in stores. I think I’ll look for pink rebel next! πŸ™‚

  5. I’ve seen so many people raving about this product by now, that i feel like i need to check the color whispers out. I’ve very happy with my Lip Butters, but i guess something different wont hurt to try. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the idea.
    Really nice review!
