Foundation Stash

foundations

Today let’s talk about some foundations! For the LONGEST time I was a one foundation girl (L’Oreal True Match), but when I started college I just started buying different things, and now I somehow ended up with 5 different foundations. For me, each one serves a different purpose. I still don’t think I’ve found the perfect foundation, but I definitely like all of these for some reason or another.

foundation collection

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation They don’t sell this in the States, but they do in Canada, so when I saw the orange cap or Rimmel Wake Me Up across the Canadian drugstore last summer, I RAN to it! I also purchased the concealer. I have been wearing this foundation most days for the past few months. The formula is medium coverage, with slight shimmer that gives the appearance of more ‘awake’ skin. It is a good everyday foundation, but I wish the staying power was better.

Revlon Photoready BB CreaAfter using tinted moisturizer for awhile, I decided I needed something with a little better coverage. I didn’t really understand BB Cream when the trend first started, so I went for this cheap version from Revlon. I am very happy with the coverage of this cream, and the fact that it feels pretty light on the skin. I find my skin gets very shiny very fast though. I usually follow up with a matte powder.

Revlon ColorStay I think Revlon ColorStay is one of those foundations I’ll always repurchase (and already have). This stuff just works. The link above is to my FOTD for my college graduation. I did my make up around 12:30pm, and got home at 6am. When I looked in the mirror at 6am, my skin still looked flawless. This stuff covers up everything too, so you barely need concealer. This is my go to foundation for events and parties because I know I won’t have to worry about it.

L’Oreal Magic Nude I rarely buy anything without massive research first, but when I spotted a new L’Oreal foundation at the drugstore awhile back, I just jumped at it. Luckily for me, I love it. This foundation is very liquidy, but turns into a powdery formula when worked into the skin. ‘Magic’ is the perfect way to describe it. The foundation feels so light on the skin, like nothing is there, yet covers up imprecations pretty well. I bought this when I was really tan, so the color hasn’t matched for months, but any week now, I’ll be able to get back into this one!

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Of my current stash, this mineral powder from Laura Mercier probably is my favorite. I’m amazed every time I use it, how well it covers, yet how natural it really looks. Mineral powders are a miracle. The natural looking finish gives the skin a beautiful look, that pairs so well with just a sweep of eyeshadow and dab of lipstick.

What is your favorite foundation? I’m hoping to try the Covergirl 3 in 1 and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

  1. I’m currently on the look for a foundation that I like. I want a really nice one as a treat for my graduation/21st so I’ve been getting a sample of different high end foundations every time I go to the department store. At the moment though, I’m using Illamasqua skin base.

  2. I’m a big fan of the Revlon ColorStay! It’s a great drugstore option. I’ve looked at that L’Oreal product so many times, but haven’t purchased it yet. Maybe now I will! I agree with you on the Mineral Makeup. If they work and match your skin tone, they give this gorgeous natural glow to the skin that is just beautiful. Great post!

  3. I wish Rimmel would bring that foundation to the States! So many people rave about it online! My roommate is in love with the CoverGirl 3-in-1 (she loves how soft and smooth her skin feels). Lately I’ve been loving the Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream. It’s more like an Asian BB Cream in that is has better coverage than a lot of other Western ones. I really liked this post! I would be interested in seeing other stash posts from you in the future. 🙂

  4. I’ve never tried the Revlon Colorstay foundation but that is something on my to try list! Currently, I’m enjoying Rimmel’s Stay Matte Liquid Mousse, MAC’s Matchmaster and Chanel’s Vitalumiere. All three are different, but are buildable in coverage. Thanks for sharing 🙂
