Spring Make Up Picks

spring make up picks

It’s time to bring out the pinks and corals, the dresses and skirts. I couldn’t be happier. This month some lovely ladies and I are all picking our favorite beauty and fashion picks for spring. (Check out their links at the end of the post!) This spring, I’m going for a simple look. Glowing skin, pink lips…an overall fresh face look. I’ve never been one for heavy make up, especially in the warmer months. Keep reading to see what I’ll be wearing the next few months!

laura mercier mineral powder

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Foundation

I have been wearing this Laura Mercier foundation for the past few months, and have fallen completely in love. This is the first mineral powder foundation I’ve used, and it took some getting used too, but I love the overall effect. I love to use this with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I work in small sections all over the face, building up where I need more coverage. This is lovely for spring because it has a natural, glowy finish, and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

I usually mix my blushes up a lot, especially during the spring, so I didn’t choose one for this post. Instead, I’m focusing on the bronzer. This bronzer from The Body Shop is really light, giving the skin a sun-kissed, natural look. I apply a little bit on the cheeks to warm up the face.

the Balm Mary Lou-Manizer

In addition to bronzer, I love applying a little highlighter, and this one from the Balm is amazing. Mary Lou-Manizer is the most beautiful soft gold color that brightens up the face. The formula is the softest, most velvety thing I’ve ever felt, making application a dream. I sweep this across the cheekbones with a very light hand. A little goes a long way with this!

Stila Kitten Eyeshadow

This eyeshadow is actually really similar to the highlighter I mentioned above. Stila Kitten, the ever so famous eyeshadow, is definitely one of my all time favorites. The shade is just the lightest color of rose gold, with lots of shimmer. I love that it is neutral, but brings shine and life to the eye. The formula is a bit powdery, so careful with application! I sometimes pair this with a pink shadow to give it more of a rose gold tone. I prefer neutral looks in the spring, but still want something that will shine in the sun!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Just Beige

For either use on its own, or under another shadow, this matte beige cream shadow from Maybelline is a great tool to have. For simple looks I apply it all over the lid to even out the skin there. Under other shadows, it keeps them from budging and make the colors look more vibrant.

Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner

When I wear a simple, neutral look, like with Stila Kitten or the Maybelline Color Tattoo, I love wearing a more bold eyeliner to add to the look. I’ve experimented with liquid eyeliners over the years, but this one from Stila is by far the best I’ve used. The pen tip is super thin, making application much easier, and risk for raccoon eyes decreases. It stays in place all day, making the effort even more worth it!

Dior Lip Glow

Now I tend to change my lip color everyday, but there are always a few that stay in my bag for weeks at a time. When I first picked up the Dior Lip Glow, I couldn’t believe I had actually spent $31 on one item. But I am so happy I did! The product goes on clear/really light pink, and adjusts the pH or temperature of your skin to create the most beautiful shade of pink. It looks really natural, but still like you’ve got something on. Plus, the packaging makes you feel like a movie star!

NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel

I bought a pack of NYX Butter Glosses….last summer? But didn’t realize how much I loved them still the winter. The shade Apple Strudel is a peachy shade that I think screams spring. These glosses have great staying power, the colors are bright, and the formula smells AMAZING. For the price, you’d be crazy to not go out and buy a few!

  1. AMAZING picks Tess! I agree with every single thing you included here! I too, already love the Mary LouMaziner, NYX Butter Gloss, Stila Kitten, and Maybelline Color Tattoos! I am now wanting to try the Laura Mercier mineral foundation and the Body Shop bronzer! xX

    1. YES! It’d be perfect. It comes in a few shades, but I have the lightest one. I’m naturally not that pale, but I think it would still work great for someone with super light skin. It goes on very light.

  2. Great picks. I keep the Dior lipglow in my work bag so I always have something pretty for touchups. And Stila “Kitten” is a fabulous eyeshadow. I actually just finished the one I had.

  3. Ive been wanting to try the Laura Mercier mineral foundation for ages and now I want to more! I love the honey bronzer, it is the best bronzer I’ve ever used. Great post by the way 😀

  4. ooh! You’ve got a lot if great products here! Everyone eaves about that balm highlighter and it looks gorgeous! And that Dior Lip Glow has such cute packaging!

  5. The Dior Lip Glow is SO NICE! I borrowed it from a friend once when I was in dire need of lip balm and it made my lips look amazing! It’s on my list of products to buy when I want to treat myself (treat yo’self). I’m really bad at liquid eyeliner, so maybe I’ll check out the Stila. Thanks for the great post!
