I’m definitely a fan of keeping my nail polish seasonal. Bright pinks in the summer, warm reds in the fall. In the winter, I almost always stick to darker colors, they just seem to fit the mood better. This winter, I’ve been switching up my manicure a lot. These are some of the dark wintery colors I used a lot this winter.
5 of them are drugstore, which is pretty great too!
Sally Hansen Red Zin–My go too deep red. I love Sally Hansen nail polishes, they are super opaque and last quite some time. This color dries much darker on the nail than it appears in the bottle.
Julep Jillian–One of the most unique shades I’ve ever had. Jillian is an eggplant color with a bronze shimmer. The contrast of eggplant and bronze turn into a really beautiful shade.
China Glaze Smoke and Ashes- This color is from China Glaze’s Hunger Games line. I loved the whole collection! Smoke and Ashes is a black polish with green and blue micro shimmers. It looks mostly black on the nail but catches the light beautifully.
Sally Hansen Plum Luck– One of the first nail polishes I bought when I started getting obsessed. I love purple nails, and Plum Luck is no exception. I like that this color isn’t too dark, that it still comes off as purple.
Revlon Hot Chocolate– On my nails as we speak. Brown nail polish may seem weird, but I really love it. Black can be too harsh, brown is a really nice alternative. Revlon nail polishes are also super great.
China Glaze First Mate- In the quest to find the perfect navy blue, I stumbled upon China Glaze First Mate. It is just a tad lighter than your usual navy, which I love. It looks so shiny on the nail. Even though it is a dark color, it almost comes across as bright. I think I’ll be using this one next!
What are some of your favorite colors you wore this winter? I still have a few dark shades I’m hoping to use before I dive head first into spring!
