Natural Products #2

natural beauty products

If you’ve been reading closely the last few months, you may know I’ve been trying to use more natural products in my beauty routine. After read Deborah Burnes book “Look Great, Live Green” I want to be more conscious of what I’m putting on and in my body. Our skin absorbs everything, and the chemicals and preservatives in beauty products can go through our skin and into our blood stream.

One of my new year’s resolutions is to start using more natural beauty products. Whenever I finish up a lotion or cleanser, I am trying to replace it with natural options. Today, I have 4 all natural products to share with you that I have been LOVING recently!! I buy most of my natural products on Vitacost. They have the best deals.

aura cacia lavender

Aura Cacia Lavender Essential Oil

I live in a first floor apartment. I live in a college town. It gets loud at night. In order to aid myself into a deep sleep, I bought some Lavender Oil. This stuff is super concentrated lavender scent. It can be used for a bunch of stuff, but what I did was make a homemade Febreeze. I mixed a few ounces of water with a teaspoon of oil in a spray bottle. At night I spray some of this lavender water on my pillows and sheets. The lavender scent is natural calming and relaxing. I have been sleeping so much better ever since! Aura Cacia makes a ton of essential oils.

andalou naturals toner

Andalou Naturals Illuminating Toner

Andalou Naturals is becoming one of my favorite natural companies, especially in the ‘brightening’ range. If you like clementines, oh boy you’ll love this toner. Whether you spray it on a cotton pad or right on you face, you will be welcomed by the amazing, fresh scent of pure clementines. I love toners to make sure my skin is super clean every night. My skin LOVES vitamin C, and this toner really keeps my skin bright and fresh. Oh and did I mention the smell? πŸ™‚

dr. bronners rose

Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap in Rose

Oh I’m SURE you’ve heard of Dr. Bronner’s! I’ve been using this castile soap since before I can remember. My parents used it back in the 70’s and I think my dad might still use it today! I some how didn’t know it came in a rose scent, and I love rose! I picked up this little bottle for washing my make up brushes (I prefer a more moisturizing body wash these days) and now my brushes smell so nice! Dr. Bronner’s gets my brushes cleaner than clean. It is definitely a mush have!

coconut oil

Nature’s Way Coconut Oil

Ok Tess, stop talking about Coconut Oil! No? Okay. You may have seen I talked about this stuff in my January Favorites. Once again, I’ll say it. I’ve been loving coconut oil lately! It makes my skin feel good, it makes my hair feel good, AND I can cook with it! Coconut oil is so much better for you than butter or oil, so it is a healthy alternative. When it comes to beauty, it is much more moisturizing than most lotions. My skin feels smooth and hydrated for days after using it. It has also turned me onto more coconut items like soaps and shampoos. I just love the smell!

Do you have any favorite natural items? I’m always on the hunt for more!

  1. Love coconut oil. I put it in my hair, my lips, skin, cook with it. It’s really good to have a few tablespoons a day. I also love essential oils. I have a lot of the Young Living brand of oils but I have that lavender in the same brand you do. Also I LOVE vitacost! I shop on there all the time! πŸ™‚ Love your post!
