Products for Curly Hair

moroccan oil curl defining cream

I’ve had a mop of curly hair on my head for about 23 years now. That’s my whole life if you didn’t know.

I still remember by the day my older sister discovered hair mousse, and our lives changed forever.

I was in 7th grade, and since then, it has been my mission to find the best products for my hair. There is a never ending amount of products out there, and I’ll never be able to try them all. For now, I’ll just use these one. They work.

phyto hair relaxing balm

PHYTO   Hair Relaxing Balm: PHYTO is a really interesting brand to me, mostly because the labels are in French. They have a few products that are a bit out of the ordinary, and that is intriguing. This relaxing balm is for use on wet hair. I apply just a nickel sized amount or so while my hair is wet and then style as usual. It helps de-frizz which is the main goal for curly hair. I find it makes my hair a bit more wavy, instead of curly, which I prefer. For natural days, this is usually all I use.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon: Secret Weapon really is a good name for this product. I’ve had countless bottles of this stuff throughout my years and I’ll never be able to live without it. After I curl my hair with a wand, I put a little of this in too give the curls something to hold on to. If my hair is dry, and needs some extra oomf, I put a little of this in to give the curls some new life. Even a little on straightened hair helps tackle unwanted frizz. Frizz no more when you have this. It’s magical. It’s pretty cheap too! For any unwanted hair issues, this is a great product to have on hand. John Frieda makes a bunch of other great hair products too.

loreal elnett

Moroccan Oil Intense Curl Cream: Who doesn’t love argan oil? It is definitely one of my favorite trends in the beauty world these days. This Moroccan Oil brand curling cream was my first dive into the ingredient. First off, the pump is amazing. I have pretty long hair and one full pump is pretty much the perfect amount. The Intense Curl Cream is used on wet hair. I work it in for 30 seconds to a minute to ensure it is well distributed. Then I let it air dry. The oils in the product give my curls a ton of moisture which makes them looking presentable without much work.

L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray: To finish it off, everyone needs a little hairspray. I can’t imagine how many bottles of hairspray I’ve gone through in my life. This one from L’Oreal is unscented, comes out in a fine mist, doesn’t crunch, and is a good price. I don’t see any reason why I’d ever try something else. I hate scented sprays, and I hate when they get crunchy, and this doesn’t do either!

I have a few other products for curly hair I have obtained recently, but I’m not sure how much I like them yet. Do you have any hair products you absolutely love?

  1. I have very wavy / curly hair so this post was very helpful to me! This is a long list but my favorite curly hair musts have been : Loreal EverCreme Intense Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner (super moisturizing smells great), John Frieda Root Booster Blow-Dry Lotion(must have), Ojon Damage Repair Oil (great stuff, lightweight non-greasy) and/or LUSH R&B Hair Moisturizer(a little goes a long way), Lush Jasmin & Henna Fluff Ease Hair Mask(2-3x /month), Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper (creates more intense curls) and/or Tresemme Curl Care Flawless Curls Mousse (for great hold), and if needed: Aussie You Can Shine Hair Spray (adds shine and makes style last for hours).
