August Ipsy vs Birchbox 2013

Finally, my Ipsy bag came! I feel like it comes later and later each month, but maybe I’m just so eager it feels like that? Anyway, here we go again with these monthly boxes. I like these posts to show people what I got in my boxes, compared to what someone else may have gotten in theirs! And oh boy, is it a good month.

Birchbox Finishing School

Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery Treatment and Super Sweetback TreatmentI am so excited for these little packets. I’ve had a few samples of Miss Jessie’s products before and loved all of them. I’m really happy these are hair masks/treatments though. I seem to never need to buy hair masks because I get them in boxes. And TWO of them? Feels like I’m getting an extra treat.

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty: I think this is pretty much a full size lipstick, which is amazing. A full size is $24, so that makes up for the price of the box right there! This lipstick has a really awesome scent, sort of fruity? Very creamy feel, not drying at all. I love everything about this already, except for one thing. It is pretty much the same exact color as Loreal Fairest Nude, which  I already have. So now I just have two nude lipsticks….

Violet Oasis Organic Argan Oil: Argan oil, we meet again. I’ve used a few different argan oils over the years, and I honestly can’t tell much of a difference. Always nice to have a product I like in a small travel friendly bottle though. I loved the last Oasis product I received from Birchbox, so I assume this won’t be any different.

Whish Coconut Milk Correcting Gel:  At first I was confused about what this was, but I’m thinking it is supposed to like aloe? It says it is an ‘after sun’ gel, so I’ll start trying this out over the weekend when I am at my boyfriend’s pool. It’s a pretty big size too!

Whish Hair Inhibiting Deodorant Swipes: Hm, deodorant swipes. Not something I ever would have thought about trying. More natural deodorant is actually something I’ve been looking into lately, but I don’t think I like the idea of it being a wipe I have to throw out. Those things just sit in landfills…

Most excited for: Miss Jessie’s products

Best value: ModelCo Lipstick

Ipsy Glamour Academy

Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub: OMG I AM SO EXCITED. I love Michael Todd products, and this is one I haven’t tried! Plus it is a huge sample! Charcoal is supposed to be great at removing impurities from the skin, so lets get those toxins out of me!

Pacifica Multi Mineral BB Cream: More companies hopping on the BB Train! I’m always up for trying new ones, considering I haven’t found one that wowed me very much. Might be awhile till this gets much use though because I’m trying to finish one up right now, AND I have a BB cream form last months Ipsy bag I haven’t used!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy:  Another lipstick this month? Awesome!! Can we talk about this ADORABLE TINY BABY lipstick sample? I can’t believe I haven’t seen something like this before. It’s just so cute. Swatched, I can tell this color has staying power. It’s thick, so it stays in place, but goes on smooth. The color is a bright pink, which isn’t my ideal color…and it’s almost exactly the same color as Revlon Lollipop….well at least it is tiny.

Mica Beauty Eye Shadow in Bronze: I don’t have any loose shadows like this, so this is a great way to see what they are all about. The color is amazing. Very beautiful bronze color but not too dark, almost a rose gold. Wish I’d had this all summer, it’s my favorite kind of shade for tanned skin. It will definitely work its way into fall though!

Pixi Beauty Lash Booster Mascara: I used to love getting mascara samples because they actually last a long time, and then I don’t need to buy mascara! But, I recently actually fell in love with Covergirl Clump Crusher, so I don’t find I need to be trying new mascaras. Luckily, this one has a wand that looks like something I’d like.

Most excited for: Michael Todd Scrub

Best value: Probably the Urban Decay Lipstick, even though it is small, it is a brand new product

This month, oh boy, I am in love. Ipsy really stands out for me though. I’m starting to get overwhelmed with the amount of samples I have now, I can’t go through them fast enough!
