So I meant to have a few blog posts on queue before I went on vacation for 2 weeks..but then I got busy, then I was gone, then I didn’t have a lot of internet…so…here we are.
I went on vacation with my sister to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. We were only in each city for a few days, but it was so fun to spend time with my sister and see a bunch of places I have never been!
Here are some snapshots I took while I was gone. Beauty posts coming soon!
Of course, we went to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a cloudy day, but it was the perfect temperature for the 3 mile walk we took to get too it!
An afternoon in Fisherman’s Wharf. Although full of tourists, still a really amazing place. I loved this cute matching boats.
When in the Bay Area, and especially actually on the bay, one must eat seafood. Here is some crab chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Yum.
By the middle of the day, the sun was out and it got a bit too warm for us. We escaped in the Aquarium at the Bay. So many cool Jellyfish!
Rather than taking a train, we decided to rent a car and drive from San Francisco to Portland. On the way we stopped in the adorable town of Eureka, CA. For some reason there was a turkey!
This watermelon mozzarella salad was awesome.
Eureka is home to the most beautiful Victorian Era mansion in America. It’s called Carson Mansion. You can’t go inside though because it is the headquarters of a secret members only men’s club!
The next morning on our way to Portland, we stopped right outside town in the Redwood National Forest. Look how big this tree is!!
People in Portland know how to do it right.
I knew I wanted to drink as much local beer as possible on Portland. We stopped by the Rogue Breweries to have a drink.
I liked that this brewery was small and had a very laid back vibe.
Stop #1 in Seattle was doughnuts. This cinnamon sugar donut and iced coffee were from Top Pot, right down the street from my hotel. It was perfect.
Of course, we had to make our way to check out the Space Needle. It was cool, not worth more than a second of my time really.
The place I was most excited about in Seattle was Pike Place Market. Look at that produce. I want to live in it.
From Pike Place, we bought the best lunch I’ve ever had. The peaches were $3 EACH, and were the best peaches I have ever had.
Vancouver is a beautiful city because it has mountains on one side and buildings on the other. The skyline was so long, and all the buildings have so much glass that reflects the sky and water.
This picture was taken from the same park as the previous one. Just across the bay and you’re in the mountains!
Of course, another brewery. This tasting glasses are so cute!
Vancouver also has a public market called Granville Public Market. They had cherries piled miles high.
We had another, pretty similar, picnic lunch. Local smoked salmon in the baggie!
On our last day we went to a botanical garden. I love hydrangeas, and they had TONS of them!!
Feels good to be back. Looking forward to posting a lot of the next few weeks!
