Over the weekend I went to Lake Huron on the Eastern coast of Michigan with my boyfriend’s family. We went for his stepdad’s family reunion at the family cabin. I had never been to Michigan before, and was really excited to be somewhere I had never been before. The 10 hour drive there was tough, but it was so worth it once I saw the bright blue water.
The family owns a small boat and a jet ski, neither of which I had been on before! The jet ski was scary, but I understand why people love it. The boat was AMAZING. The step dad has been driving boats for over 40 years, so I trusted he knew what I was doing and I could lay back and relax. We drove miles up the coast, then parked a mile off coast to jump into the water.
One of my favorite aspects about Lake Huron, was that it is on the Western edge of the Eastern time zone. The sun didn’t set until 9:30 at night. Considering all the activities at the lake require sunlight, this was really great. There was plenty of time to lay in the sun, ride on the boat an play volleyball.
Hopefully I will be able to go back next year!
