For a few months I was using the Urban Decay ‘De Slick’ make up setting spray. It was the first setting spray I ever purchased, so I didn’t really know much about how it was supposed to work/feel. After I finished it, I knew I wanted another setting spray, but the UD ones are too expensive to repurchase as often as I need them.
Then, one day while I was on the last few spritzes of De Slick, I saw Ulta was having a sale on NYX products. I noticed they had two setting sprays, matte and dewy. For around $5, I couldn’t pass it up. I bought dewy, because for the summer I prefer a dewy, glowy look.
The first thing I noticed right away about this product was that I hated the spray bottle. Product came out in more of a ‘squirt’ rather than a mist. I still had my old De Slick bottle, so I put the product in there instead.
At first, I liked the product. It seemed to work fine; I looked a bit dewy, my make up was lasting…all I really needed. As the weather got a bit warmer though, I noticed I always felt a bit…sticky. It was like the spray never dried. When I didn’t use it, I didn’t feel sticky.
I haven’t tried the matte version, and considering its so cheap I might as well buy it to compare. NYX compared to UD have very different ingredients, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I’m still going to try to use the product up, but I definitely need to go back to an Urban Decay spray. Might try a different one this time. I think they have a new one out with vitamins in it.
