November Favorites 2013

make up

I used to just use whatever product I felt like that day, whether it was a hairspray, an eyeliner or a lip gloss. I decided a few months ago to start using my collection in a different way. Now, at the beginning of each month, I pick a selection of products (one or two from every necessary item) and use those over the next month. I find doing this helps me to really get to know a product and experiment with it. Since I’m actually using the same products multiple times a month, by the end of the month some of them are really standing out to me.

Here are this month’s stand out products!

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

I first heard about this cream from European bloggers, and figured I’d never be able to find it. Luckily, Embryolisse is a pretty common company on Hautelook, so I managed to get a tube of this cream for almost half off! It is an unscented, medium thickness face cream. If you have dry skin, this is going to be your new best friend. Since it got very cold this November, my skin was dying for moisture. I usually only apply this at night, so my skin can absorb it while I sleep. A thin layer works fine in the morning too though.

Tea Tree Therapy Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil will forever and always be one of my favorite. I am just amazed by how much it helps my skin. I use this for any acne spots on my face. It doesn’t work wonders over night, but after a few days, spots are usually completely gone. Any tiny, barely there bumps sometimes fade over night. Tea tree is much gentler on your skin than salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Also, it’s 100% natural!

Bobbi Brown Intensifying Long Wear Mascara

This little tube will probably only last me another week or so…I can tell it’s drying out. I got this in a 500pt perk from Sephora, along with an eye gel and mini palette. I love this mascara because of the wand. It separates my lashes really well, and lengthens them. The wand is small too, so it can easily be used on bottom lashes. I probably won’t repurchase it because of the price, but it will be missed!

Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara

I use this product for my eyebrows. I have pretty thick brows naturally, but they can get unruly. This product is a clear gel that I use to keep my lashes in place. It really helps keep my look together. The tube is so big, this will probably last me months.

NYX Cream Blush in Natural

My first cream blush! I bought this quite some time ago, but didn’t have the right brush for it. I finally got a stippling brush, and now it is one of my favorite blushes. The color is a mauvey pink which goes on very natural looking, hence the name. It took some getting used too, but now that I have the technique down I want to buy more!

Covergirl and Olay Eye Concealer

At first I loved this. Then I didn’t. Now I do again. I’m complicated. This is like the tinted moisturizer of concealers. The product has a swirl of concealer and a swirl of cream. Together they make a moisturizing concealer. It is actually meant for under the eyes, but I found it to crease. Instead, I use it as a spot concealer. It works just as well as any other face concealer. Since it is light weight I can layer it depending on how much coverage I need.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog

I remember buying this shadow. I went into Sephora knowing I was in the market for a dark brown shadow, and headed straight toward the Urban Decay stand. I love UD shadows because they are so easy to blend and come in the most beautiful shades. Smog is a medium brown satin shadow. I love using this all over my lid in the cooler months. I never reach for it in the summer. Just this and some mascara is one of my favorite looks.
